Working, kinda... [Jun. 2nd, 2005|10:05 am]
[I Feel | working]

I just read this article/thing on a great website I found a while ago, www.blacktable.com, kinda freelance journalism type stuff. Very funny, very interesting. This story is the first of a "column" called "Life as a Loser" and I just thought it was one of the most interesting things I have read in a long time. Funny, sad, well written, and all around good. It's kinda long, but if you feel like wasting a few minutes of your day by all means go ahead and read it.

HERE IT IS

See ya!

Critical Failure -- Your Pants Have Exploded [Apr. 23rd, 2005|01:10 pm]
[I Feel | em-bare-assed]

So it came to my attention late last night that my pants had a large rip in the ass area. And by "large" I would bring to the table such contextual representatives as the Grand Canyon, and the Great Wall of China. The major problem that I had with this problem was not the its discovery, but the realization that I had been wearing these particular pants... ALL DAY. At work, to the bank, to the local New Jersey Division of Taxation where I had to collect paperwork for TrailerMADE, out to dinner... you get the picture.

I had, unknowingly, given most of Cape May County a free look at my ass.

The most troubling thing I find in this situation is that until about 9:30 at night, when I bent over to clean out the litterbox and from Lauren rose the horrified cry of "My God, how long have you been wearing THOSE PANTS!?!", no one else said anything. Not one other human being had either the sense of mind, or perhaps the courage, to walk over to me and say, "Pardon me sir, but your ass is showing."

I figure that everyone either:
A.) Did not, in fact, see my ass.
or
B.) Felt that my case was so desperate that they could only feel some low level of pity normally reserved for the mentally unstable. "Aw, look at that poor young man, running around with his ass hanging out of his pants. No no, don't tell him dear, he probably wouldn't understand you anyway."

Either that or I was making some sort of fantastic fashion statement.

Good thing I was wearing underwear.

Changes in Latitude [Apr. 22nd, 2005|09:02 pm]
[I Feel | chipper]

Hey all, Lauren and I found something good to do on Saturday (thats tomorrow people!).

Come meet us at the Ocean Drive bar in Sea Isle for a Jimmy-Buffet-type-parrot-head-festival-thingy. There will be fun times, a cover band, a cheeseburger buffet, and... uh... parrots? Apparently there is a $10 cover/ticket charge at the door. It starts off at 7:00, but we are going to get there at 8:00 and the bar is supposed to be open until late.

Sounded like a good time to us, so if you want to join you can either give us a holla to car pool and such, or just meet up with us there at a time of your own choosing. All of the details can be found HERE.

Let Me See What You Got [Apr. 18th, 2005|10:45 pm]
[I Feel | weird]

Because I was in a weird mood, and was searching for images on the internet with Lauren, for some reason it seemed like a great idea to google up the word ASS and see what happened. The following hilarity ensued, and I felt that I must share it with everyone else. Enjoy.

Don’t worry, its not really gross or offensive or anything, just funny.

TrailerMADE is even MORE up and running, and what's more, we should soon receive the paperwork to make it an official type bussiness. Yay for paperwork!

So there is more stuff up on the website, so you should check it out.

Other than that, not much to really report.

[I Feel | bouncy]
[I Hear |Reelin' In The Years - Steely Dan]

Wow, its been quite a while hasn't it? Well, anyways, on to the matter of UTMOST IMPORTANCE!!

Lots of you know that Lauren and I have been kicking around this TrailerMade project for a while, but recent developments have crystallized the whole thing.

Later this spring/summer, TrailerMade will be appearing on the Wildwood boardwalk (and possibly several other places) in a craft-show-premiere-extravaganza-type-deal. But what, pray tell, does this mean to you? This means that this is your chance to jump on the TrailerMade bandwagon... trailwagon... bandtrailer... (coveredwagon?).

If you have any crafty type stuff that you would like to have us sell, get it together and give us a call. Also, we are looking for ideas for stickers/signs/etc. Currently my project is comming up with a few cool things to etch onto glass panes.

You know those wooden signs that have "Believe" or "Magic Happens" and stuff written on them, and you hang them up on the wall and stand back and think, "Wow, that is a cool thing to have on my wall now, I am so glad that I bought that at a store for $20." Well we are doing the same kind of thing, on small glass panes, for cheaper. So think of a word, or a SHORT quote/phrase/etc that you would like to see etched into glass. It can be pretty, hip, funny, whatever, we are just looking for ideas.

Same thing goes for sticker ideas. Think black and white, think small, think something you would buy for a buck and a half.

That is all for the TrailerMade update.

--End Transmission--

Oh wait, one more thing. This is funny. Read it closely... no closer than that... CLOSER DAMNIT! There, thats better. See?

Ack, Blarg, Poo [Dec. 27th, 2004|09:34 am]
[I Feel | discontent]

Well I just completed the first of my Monday trips into the office. This is going to be a long, long, looooong stretch of crap until I get myself a new job. However, in the best interests of not bitching too much, I will recount tales of my day as if they happened to a small ball, named Ball.

Ball had to get up very early this morning, because he had to roll into work. Ball dislikes getting up early. However, since Ball also likes eating, and living in his ball house with his ball girlfriend, Ball got up and went to work. Ball rolled for almost two hours to get to his job, working at the square factory. All day Ball would bang round pegs into square holes, until they popped out as square pegs on the other side. It was someone elses job to take the square pegs and cut them up into little squares, but Ball never saw this person. Later Ball would go to lunch, and get to talk to his girlfriend on the phone before he ate. This cheered Ball up, but not so much that he didn't think about the long roll home after his day at the square factory was over. But Ball knew that he would be happy again once he got home with all his ball friends, and that even though the square factory was a pretty crappy place to work, and an even crappier place to roll almost two hours for, the money it put in Ball's pockets would help to keep ball from living on the street, lumpy and alone.

*sigh*

Ball wants to go home now.

To be continued...

One Budweiser-Miracle of a Summer [Sep. 28th, 2004|12:03 pm]
[I Feel | thoughtful]
[I Hear |Billy Joel - Get It Right the First Time]

On Sunday I watched two people that I have known for only a few months get on a train. This train would take them to a plane that would fly them across the ocean to a place that they called home. A third person had already taken this same trip weeks before. As I walked back to my car with my arm around Lauren, I realized that what I was feeling didn’t match up with what had just happened.

I felt like I had just said goodbye to a friend of many years, or a lifetime.

Crossing the Atlantic were three people that I had spent an amazing and wonderful summer with. I was able to show them around this country that I call home, and through them saw all these old sights as new again. Watching their train pull away I found myself remembering the parties, roadtrips, and other assorted adventures that had marked our time together. For the whole trip home, both Lauren and I wondered just what we were going to do now that we didn’t have the B.I. around.

Then I remembered what we all had said before they got on the train. Not "good-bye", but "see you soon".

I don’t want anyone thinking that they can get away by just crossing a silly little ocean, you three are now officially part of our crew, and as such have certain responsibilities. Keep in touch, visit when possible, and put up with us when we show up at your door. Most importantly: remember that we are all friends, no matter where we are.

So I want to give a big thanks to everyone who made this summer great. Thanks to the B.I. for being here and being great, thanks to our regular crew who was spectacular as usual, and thanks to the new people we met along the way for being kick ass.

Now let’s keep it up people! We’ve got another season to rock out! And you guys across the ocean, you’ve got to hold up your end, I want to hear about everyone having an awesome October, November, December, and so on.

So, in conclusion: What are we all doing this weekend?

CALLING ALL BRITS!!! RESPOND ASAP!!! [Sep. 21st, 2004|11:10 pm]
I sent this in an email to you guys, and I am going to post it here for good measure!

Hey guys, we are running into a bit of a problem with the accommodations for this weekend’s trip. We are now going to be staying at Jenn’s parents house in Red Bank, NJ. If you guys get this message in time, you will need to take a different train to get closer to the new place we are staying. If you get this message, please respond before 3:00 on Friday the 24th. If we do not hear from you by then, we will assume that you did not receive this message, and will go with the original plan. My cellphone will be on pretty much 24 hours a day, and you can always leave a message at the apartment. Again my cellphone is 609-247-6062 Lauren’s is 609-247-6116 and the apartment is 609-729-2522.

Here is the information on the new train you will be taking to get to Red Bank:

You will be taking New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) from Penn Station in NYC. Penn Station is located under Madison Square Garden, it is the major train station so you shouldn’t be able to miss it.

You will take the North Jersey Coast Line train from Penn Station to Red Bank. This will take you through two other major stations, Secaucus Transfer and Newark. If you take the right train, you will not need to transfer at either one. The trains from Penn Station to Red Bank leave about every hour, sometimes a few per hour.

There are three trains that will put you at Red Bank at the right time for us to pick you up, none of these trains have transfers, just get on at Penn and get off at Red Bank:
The 6:26 train out of Penn will arrive in Red Bank at 7:34.
The 7:08 train out of Penn will arrive in Red Bank at 8:18.
The 7:20 train out of Penn will arrive in Red Bank at 8:41.

We should be in the Red Bank area at 7:30. Just wait at the station and we will pick you up there.

Again, please respond to this message as quickly as possible. Call the apartment or our cell phones whenever you get this, it doesn’t matter how late (or early) it is.

We are really looking forward to seeing you guys! And the upside to all of this changing stuff is that we all get beds/couches and it will be slightly easier to get into the city on Saturday, we will just go the way you guys came! The tickets for the train are cheap too, it will be about $14-$18 round trip.

Alright, I hope everyone gets the message!

They Have Secret Lives! [Aug. 31st, 2004|02:23 pm]
[I Feel | anxious]

Alright, here is something that has been kicking around in my head for a while, and I was finally able to get it out in a reasonable facsimile of what it was like in my head.

This is pretty rare.

Anyway enjoy My Webcomic!

I am really kinda interested in seeing what people think!

Positive comments will be welcomed! (That’s good!)
Constructive criticism will be appreciated! (That’s alright!)
Negativity will be treated with extreme prejudice! (That’s bad!)

Porous McGee Rocks the Hizy [Jun. 5th, 2004|10:48 am]
[I Feel | calm]
[I Hear |The quiet sounds of morning.]

It's time again for...

The Gerbil Word of the Week.

This weeks word is: Sponge

On the whole I guess I like sponges. They make things easier in the kitchen, and in the shower, and...wherever else you use sponges, right? I prefer the manmade sponges to the natural sea sponges, and in the shower I use the close cousin to sponges, the loofah. I think there is something inherently likeable about sponges (i.e. Sponge Bob Squarepants). They’re squishy, they cant hurt you if they wanted too /well, maybe those ones that have a green scrubby thing attached to the top of them, but that’s not really the sponges fault now is it?/, and they don’t complain too much /my kitchen sponge complains a little, but only when I leave him sitting in water in the bottom of the sink when I am done with the dishes, instead of squeezing him out and putting him back on the edge of the sink like he likes/. If the sponge were only a little more mobile and personable it might make a good pet. Wouldn’t you have a cute little sponge pet? You could take it around with you and have it do tricks /Soak up that water boy! Get it! Good boy!/. It wouldn’t eat much, you could soak it in any kind of liquid food. It would make a good companion for a cat too! The cat could bat it around and have a good time, and the sponge wouldn’t really get hurt because it’s so soft and bouncy /but you would have to wash the cat hair off it after they were done playing, no one wants to be covered with cat hair/. It wouldn’t make a good companion for a dog though, because they would probably eat it. You could name it something like Squishy or Porous McGee, and let it sleep in a shoebox under your bed.

At least, that’s where I would keep mine.

/That’s all for now! Megan had a great idea by the way, if you want me to write something about a specific word, just send it in as post on this week’s word. I will take requests in the order they are received./

The Start of a New Beginning [May. 28th, 2004|05:27 pm]
Well, since I seem to have major problems updating my journal with any frequency, I am implementing a new weekly event:

The Gerbil Word of the Week

Each week I will pick a word from a random word generator and talk about it. That way I will write in my journal at least once a week. Hopefully this will prove entertaining as well. /I really hope so/

This week’s word is: Birdbath

Wow. What a start huh? Birdbath.

Well I think that creating an artificial puddle raised off the ground so that we can watch birds bathe is animal voyeurism. I mean, what if there were a big tub raised up in the middle of the yard and we were all expected to strip naked and splash around in it for the amusement of some gigantic race of birds.

I imagine Big Bird brooding over a bowl of naked strutting people.

“Look at the plumage on that one!” he intones, as he nudges his huge robin companion, “Its obviously displaying some sort of mating behavior.”

The robin, on the other hand, says nothing. Perhaps he is mesmerized by the display of another species bathing in front of him. Or perhaps, just perhaps, he is contemplating this chance at revenge upon the humans for the countless deaths by automobile that his diminutive brethren have suffered. “Now I will crush you,” he whispers to himself, “Who’s tiny now?”

“What was that Robin?”

“Nothing…ooh look! Another one!”

/Tune in next week for more incoherent ramblings!/

If you haven't yet, you need to NOW. [Apr. 23rd, 2004|02:40 pm]
[I Hear |Periods of Heavy Intermitantcy all Day]

Just in case anyone hasn't seen this site, its great:

The Institute of Offical Cheer

The guy who does it is hilarious and almost every page has made me break out in giggles or snickers /and even a few guffaws/. Some of my favorites are the Gallery of Regrettable Food and the Dorcus Collection.

But all of the stuff is funny, and when I say funny I mean tears-running-down-your-face-gasping-for-breath-trying-really-hard-not-to-soak-your-pants-with-urine funny.

Go there! Tell me your favorite!
Then change your pants.

I want everyone who reads this to ask me 3 questions, no more no less. Ask me anything you want. Then I want you to go to your journal, copy and paste this allowing your friends (including myself) to ask you anything.
